Top 5 Things TO-DO This Summer: Orange County

I’ve lived in Orange County my entire life, so finding fun things to do during the summer is always interesting.  You would think after living here for 20 years that I would know everything- but every year a new event comes up that I didn’t know about!  I gathered my 5 must-do summer activities for Orange County and you do not want to miss out on any of these!  One or two things are free, and one or two (or three ;)) cost money.  I plan on crossing these off my summer list all very soon!  Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.  Enjoy!

1.  Orange County Fair

Ok, this one is kind of a given.  Still to this day though I meet people who have lived in Orange County forever and they have not attended this.  It blows my mind!  It is a pricey activity, but it is so much fun!  Rides, yummy food, entertaining shows and plenty of photo ops.  You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be buying a pass for this year-like I do every year!  Oh- and side note.  Riding the bus is so much cheaper, just look at the map and they have them pretty much everywhere!  They specific buses for the fair so everyone on the bus will be heading to the fair-no need to deal with weirdos!  And it is WAY cheaper than parking.

2.  SUP Glow Night Tour

I haven’t done this activity yet, but I have plans to with a friend this summer!  Basically what it is is paddle boarding at night time with a group of people.  It sounds scary, but it is a guided tour with waterproof LED lighting that helps you guide through the water.  Again, not the cheapest, but it definitely is worth the doing!

3.  Movies on the Beach- Newport

For the past two years I have attended free movie nights, but I attended them at the Sergestrom Performing Art Center in Costa Mesa.  They are having a lot of construction right now so unfortunately it looks like it isn’t happening this year.  No need to worry though, because I did some research and so many places are doing them now!  The one I plan on going to is the one in Newport, and if you click the link they have a full schedule of the movies playing so you can plan ahead to which ones you want to go to.

4.  OC Night Market

I went last year and it was soon much fun!  It is basically the same idea of a street fair, except they have performances.  Who wants to pass up an opportunity to eat yummy food, hang with friends, and watch dance performances.  Not me!!! I mean lets be real here…you got me at food.  🙂

5.  Sawdust Festival

I plan on going to this event for the first time this year.  I have heard about it for two years now but just never got around to actually going.  From what I have heard, they have cute jewelry (most widely known for toe rings), and you are able to look at little pop up shops of art and jewelry while being down by the water.  Plus, they have food!  Since it is mostly for the shopping the food selections are limited, but since you are down by the beach there are plenty of food places near by to try!

Danielle Alana
