How I Take My Makeup Off

HI guys! So not that long ago I did an updated skin care routine blog post.  In that blog post, I mentioned I used a cleansing balm to get my makeup off.  If you missed my blog post, you can read it HERE. I decided to do a dedicated blog post to the product and also show on my Instagram stories today how I use it! All of these products are from my other favorite skin care brand, as of now, which is Colleen Rothschild.  You guys know that TULA is life lately! But I’ve learned that just washing my face doesn’t do the trick, I need multiple steps.  So consider this my makeup taking off routine… before skin care!

CLEANSING BALM

Makeup wipes are a must for me, but I notice when I wear a full face of products it takes a little extra scrubbing.  Which for me, it makes my face red and also irritated! So I use THIS cleansing balm to take my makeup off before washing it.  It has a slippery, moist texture that softens your makeup to make it easier to take off.  Now, before I go on, let me inform you that there are multiple ways to use this.  Some people use the balm, and then just rinse their face with water and move on.  That is one way! But after applying it to my face, I use a makeup wipe to remove the balm and my makeup, and then I go on to wash my face.

ACCUTANE

Like I said before, I use to only have one or two steps in my routine.  Now as you know, I have multiple steps.  I realized a couple months ago that I wasn’t happy with my skin and the way it looked.  I don’t have a bunch of problems with acne because I have been on the drug accutane twice.  For those of you who don’t know what that is, it is used to treat severe acne.  This drug is only used when acne does not respond to other type of treatments like antibiotics and creams.  Since this is a heavy drug, it does have some side effects! I experienced a lot of dry skin- like  A LOT.  I went from an oily mess to my skin was falling off every inch of my body because it was so dry. I apply lotion every now and then, but I’m definitely not religious about it.  I had to be when I was on this medication, or else I was going to have problems.  Other than being SUPER dry, I had to stay careful with being in the sun.  As a matter of fact, I didn’t go in the sun at all.  I purposely took this medication both times in the Fall so I didn’t have to worry about hot weather. Being in sunny California, the sun was still out but no beach days were allowed during this time!

Keep in mind, I’m not a doctor! I’m just simply stating what I went through and the side effects I had problems with.  I got a headache every now and then, and that was also a side effect for me. Not fun, but hey…it was worth it.  I definitely still have some skin texture issues, but I’m doing my best to use different products to help! With that being said, here are some of other favorite Colleen Rothschild products that I use for a mask or to help me exfoliate.  It is never a bad thing to use multiple brands for different reasons!

Recommendations

These are the other products that I use from Colleen Rothschild that I love. This is my second time using all of these products pictured (except for the lip treatment) because I finished the first round of them I got. So far the lip treatment I do love, but I have mixed feelings about it. It’s a very thin formula so I do have to dig my finger in there to get a good amount to apply. It has a coconut smell and even if I get a lot of it, it feels more like a gloss then a fulfilling lip treatment. At the end of the day, it does work! I’m just not a fan of the texture. Both other products are a mud mask type like treatment and a very exfoliating treatment. I use these around traveling time, or when I’ve had a hard time with my skin lately. That meaning my pores are clogged, and my skin just feels full of crap. I recommend both of these because you can literally hear your skin breathing after you do the treatments!

ULTIMATE LIP BALM

Everyone’s skin is different, and if I’m being honest I’m not quite sure how to describe my skin now. It was very oily, and now after using Accutane I find it to be in between. So with that being said let’s just call it normal! As you can see now, I have a full on line of products (literal line) that I go through morning at night. I’ve slowly learned that if you want nice skin, it’s going to cost you something. Because for me, drug store products just don’t cut it. It definitely works for time beings or if I’m on a budget, but not for long term. Until next time, friends!
