I specifically chose a romance book for this month because of Valentine’s Day, and boy did this book deliver. Talk about a love story. I noticed on the cover it says “soon a major motion picture” (which I didn’t realize before) and I’m crossing all my fingers hoping it’s true. This is the best book I have read in a long time! January’s pick was great and all that, but this one takes the cake hands down.
One of the reasons I’m so happy with this book is because of the ending. As it got closer, I just had to keep reading because I needed to know what happened. Who was going to get the job? Where was the climax going to take place? It really did keep you at the edge of your seat.
Not only did the ending make me happy, but the author had me so in love with the characters (hello Joshua) that I was beyond invested into their lives. She paid so much attention to detail when writing each of their parts that I feel like 1. These people are real and 2. They’re good friends and I know everything about them.
And…can we talk about the twist for a second? As I got closer to the end the only thing I could think of happening was the job situation would blow up. It was really the only thing they were focusing on—and then out of left field came an ex-girlfriend and family drama. I personally didn’t see that coming at all, so once I started reading that part I didn’t put it down until after the wedding part was over. Her telling off Joshua’s family was amazing and I felt like clapping while reading ha!
Safe to say I’m adding this to my read again list, and my new nickname request is shortcake. Lol!
