August Book Review

Talk about heavy. If I had to use one word to describe this book, it would be just that—heavy. Let’s start from the beginning though. At least 20 pages in, I was extremely confused and couldn’t keep track of who was who. I’m really bad at names when it comes to books specifically. After a million names being thrown around (or at least that’s what it felt like), I was wondering if I was going to be able to follow along. Once I was able to think up the characters in my head though and imagine the story—I was golden!

One thing I really liked about this book was that it kept me intrigued from the very start. Even though I was lost with the names, it was go go go all the time I felt like. Which is definitely what some people need in order for them to read a book. I can push through a slow book not a problem, but it was nice to be constantly entertained so to speak.

I was also mind blown with how big the investigation got. I usually get emotionally invested into books, and the same goes for this one. My heart broke for the girls that were involved that had already passed, and the ones that passed throughout the book. It was just so sad to think about—especially for my mama heart! As far as the ring leaders go, I was surprised about that. I was leaning towards it being the sheriff or someone else. Looking back, there wasn’t many other character options to choose from without it being obvious, but the secretary and her secret lover…just didn’t do it for me!

Overall, a really great thriller that will have you wanting to turn the pages more than putting it down. Highly recommend!
